Thanks to everyone for this wonderful forum. I recently got my Mythic and was able to install a few apps including Google Maps. Does anyone have the jar and jad files for the following so that it doesn't ask for permissions:

Gmail
Orkut
Youtube

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again guys!

Those apps are not signed. You will have to learn the goatbreaking method or reinstall them using TKFE. Also I hope you got google maps from this forum. As the direct download from google doesnt use the gps and ours does.

Thanks for your quick reply. I DID get Google Maps from this forum, so it works fine.

So, if I plan to goatbreak GMail, these are the steps I plan to follow:

[1] Install GMail from google mobile website
[2] Using TKFE and copy jad to pc
[3] Edit the jad file to add the following lines to the end
     MIDlet-Touch-Support: True
     MIDlet-ScreenMode: ROTATE
[4] Copy the jad file back to the Gmail folder
[5] Delete the appdb folder and manifest.mf if it exists

Thanks again for your help!

You really only want  MIDlet-Touch-Support: True  and    MIDlet-ScreenMode: ROTATE
the rest doesn't do anything for us.  Some apps will need softkeys so leave out midlet touch true
if you need them.

Step 4 is necessary unless you edit the manifest first in jar with winrar, then you don't need to add lines to
jad, jadgen will make them.

Everything else sounds good, looks like you got it  Grin

I prefer just TKFE to goatbreaking because you have to use TKFE either way.

I edited your little tutorial above to make it correct. Installing with TKFE and goatbreaking is 2 different methods.

With TKFE you install the jad and jar to your phone then update the database.

When you download an app and it installs then you goatbreak it. You are just using TKFE to delete the appdb folder and the manifest.mf if it exists.

2 different methods to install and allow permissions. Dont mix them up like you did.  With goatbreaking if you want to edit the jad then do like I said. Always delete the appdb folder last. No need to update databases as the application is already installed in the database.

Oh I see. Thanks for the clarification. So in my case since I download GMail from google website and I don't have the jad file beforehand (like I had for Google Maps or Mobile Email 2 from this forum) the only option is goatbreaking. Is that correct?

Also, I meant to update the database as I am planning to move the apps to locked apps folder so that it doesn't appear on the delete menu and gets deleted accidentally.

Also, I was wondering is there a way to get GMail into Mobile Email 2? I belive Mobile Email 3 has it. But I am still very happy that I can use Mobile Email 2 without paying the $5/month! You guys rock!!!

Gmail has email forwarding. So i just created another email account from the choices of providers listed and forwarded all my gmail emails to that account works good. Just go under settings and then forwarding. Good for receiving emails atleast.

So I've tried to access the gmail app in fullscreen mode after I edited the jad and downloaded it to my phone again, but the d-pad is still visible. I also tried editing some of the other code as suggested in the goatbreaking tutorial (eg Reversesoftkeys: true, usenativetextbuttons:false) but the d-pad is still visible. Does this have to do with the screen size of the app in the .jad? If anyone could offer any help or support I would appreciate it.
EDIT: Btw the screen isn't rotating either if that helps at all...

Did you edit the jad with the codes exactly as they were printed out. They have to be exactly the same. Then after writing the jad back to the phone delete the appdb folder. This will cause the app to reinstall using the edited jad.
