It should always be on gps when you are receiving a gps signal. If you lose data connection or you are inside you will lose the gps signal.

There is no other way to allow the gps permissions than using TKFE to install or goatbreak.

Ok...here we go...my first newbie question Cheesy

When my phone comes in, it'll have the unlimited data plan, but not the AT&T Navigator $9.99 addon.  Will this still work for me, or does AT&T cripple the GPS unless you sign up?

Yes they crippled the gps. But we have ways around that crippling. The easiest way is to install the jad and jar with TKFE and it will bypass ATT's permission check.

And it wouldnt matter if you did pay the 9.99 for navigator the gps still wouldnt work with google maps. Just install as directed and googlemaps will use the gps and it will be free as long as you have a data plan.

I do not have a data plan for my phone. Is there any way I can install the mapping software plus the map files onto the phone, so that it doesn't need to connect to the internet for the GPS to work?

That is not possible.  Googlemaps uses the internet only.

OKay so I get to the point where I am dragging my jar and .jad files to the tkfe window and it won't let me. I keep getting the circle with a line through it.  btw I have the newest software from samsung, does that have something to do with it?

I got this MGMaps and cache map of Omaha. It was working fine but now all of a sudden i am not able to search of places like "pizza" or any address. It gives me search error, previously it used to give me the search results. I dont have a data plan just to let all know. Can thoughts. Thank you.

You cant drag from windows explorer to TKFE. Top window of TKFE is where you navigate to find the file.

This thread is about google maps and not mgmaps. I dont believe mgmaps offline version can do searches.  Searces can only be done with the online version. Offline is just a map.
