Across the Impression, Eternity, and (hopefully) Mythic forums, there are many threads which reference using TKFE for tasks such as editing and installing apps on Samsung phones. My goal here is to offer a guide to get you connected with TKFE, so that the average user will be able to use it to install applications.

Step 1: download TkFE. It does not need to be installed, but it will create a preferences file in whatever folder you place it, so you might as well give it a folder of its own on your PC.

Step 2: On your phone, hit menu > settings > connectivity > select usb mode > Samsung PC Studio

Step 3: Either install the Mythic version of New PC Studio, or install the standalone driver found attached to this post.

Step 4: Lets get connected! Attach the USB cable (see this thread for some links to cheap cables) and make sure that PC Studio is closed. Open TKFE and hit the settings icon (has a gear on it). If the drivers have installed successfully, you should see multiple com ports listed under the dropdown list for ports. Depending on many factors, the correct port could be any of these, so try them (by selecting them and trying to connect) until you get one that works. Select that port, make sure the baud rate is set to the highest setting, and hit OK.

Step 5: Hit the connect icon in TKFE (it has a picture of a PC and a phone on it). If all goes well, the file tree of your phone should appear. If so, thats it! You are successfully connected to TKFE.

For Windows 7 Users: If no com ports show up in TKFE, we can try a different communication setting. On your phone, open the dialer and hit *#197328640# . This opens one of the admin menus. From here, hit 9 >  6 > 2. It will ask you to disconnect and reconnect your cable. You can exit from this screen using the call or end buttons. You should then power your phone off and on. When it powers back on, Windows will try to install new drivers. If it fails, you should be able to force it to install them manually by hitting Start > Devices and Printers, and then selecting the unknown devices and going through the menus to update the drivers. At this point, you can open TKFE back up and try to connect again.

Thanks for the info.

I'm just curious, is it possible to use TKFE with the integrated bluetooth yet? Or is it data cable or nothing for now?

Also, if this is the wrong section to post this, please let me know...

Are the data cables for the Eternity and Mythic interchangeable?

Thanks,

Have a look at the forum. Not too many threads to look at, at the moment. TKFE is a file explorer so your pc can see the filesystem of your phone. Used to install and mod games/apps and other things.

Some people have had success using the standard method under Windows 7 (installing New PC Studio and drivers). I have tried these methods, but gave up pretty quickly, as the alternate method always works for me. You may have more luck.

Actually No, the Mythic uses Micro USB.

Nice catch. But this forum was copied from the solstice forum to get it started. The owner for quickness just replaced 'solstice' with 'mythic' throughout the forum. So you will find a few errors throughout. I tried to delete many as I came to them. That was one I missed.

quick question... I was trying to get things working last night. However, I got into the trouble of the COM / PORT not showing. I tried typing in the com/port 2 and it did the trick however, during the connecting process, it will show the phone's drive for a second then it will error out saying connection lost.

Any thoughts?

If your phone indeed was using COM2 then it sounds liek a driver issue.  Did you close out PC Studio prior to trying to connect with TKFE?
