No, this isn't a question about the length or file size of a ringtone. My problem is that I have a short (less than 7 seconds) mp3 ringtone and it doesn't play correctly- it cuts IN. The phone plays the tone correctly when I select it (playing it in the music player), but when the phone actually RINGS, it cuts off the first second or two- which for a 7 second clip, really makes a difference.

The mp3 file is the 24 CTU ring. So when my phone rings, instead of sounding like "blip, blip, ring, ring", it's like "blip, ring, ring" if that makes ANY sense, lol.

Anyone know of a way to fix this?

Are you sure you just dont hear it because of the increasing ring? You could use a free program like audicity that can add a 2 second blank in front of the ringtone.

Yeah, it's not a fade in issue, because the ring repeats 3-4 times (as it's short) for each call and every time the file plays it does this, not just the first time. So unless the phone fades in and out for each ring, it has to be another problem.

I went ahead and added a 1 second silence at the beginning as you suggested. This works, but it's only a band-aid fix to an annoying problem. I don't want to have to modify every single ringtone like that in order to hear the whole ringtone- that's just retarded.

I was thinking the same thing as agoattamer but now I wonder what your real problem is.  I have custom ringtones using my favorite mp3s and have not had that issue.  I also use the infamous AOL "You Got Mail" as my text message tone and it does not skip any of it and it's only maybe 4 seconds in length.

Spartacus did you attempt to modify any of the volume settings in the service menu? Most likely you havent.

So every ringtone you attempt to use does this?

I think attempt would be a good way to put it. Like several others, my phone simply reboots when you try to save anything in "write" mode in the service menus. Nothing was altered. I went back in a few times just to check if the default values were still there and they were.

As for all ringtones, no. All the default ones work fine. All default and added text alerts work fine as well, the problem seems to be limited to the looped mp3 ringtones.
