This fix was independently discovered by me and Agoattamer. It may not sound like a big deal, but some people may want to have applications running in the background when you aren't actively using them, rather than having them paused and suspended.
As always, PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Open up your dial pad and enter the following, *#6984125*#.
Choose INTERNALS and enter the following, *#3818790*#.
Hit "Java Settings"
Hit "VM Setting"
Hit "MVM User End Key Option"
Select "Hide Only"
Select "Save"
Your phone will automatically reboot
This was tested to work on my Mythic, although Agoattamer tested it to work on his Impression. I am not sure to what degree notifications work in the background if at all, although it does seem that although we are fairly sure that this does enable background applications. Also, it will still give the suspend option, though this is actually minimizing the app.
