Is there a way to transfer sms messages from samsung mythic to the pc?

I used to have a sony ericsson before I upgraded to this phone, and the sony ericsson pc suite had the option to transfer text messages from the phone to the pc.

Is the tkfile explorer able to detect sms messages?

Thanks

You need to use pc studio. Don't know if new pc studio will work (the one that came w/ our phone) but try it first, if not try this version here :          link removed-not for the mythic

I actually tried with the PC Studio mentioned in the attached post. The 1.1.0 version, and for some reason it couldn't detect the mythic as a valid phone. I think that previous version was for eternity. The new PC Studio that they released just for the mythic has been completely toned down in comparison to the previous one.

The link you gave, is that a general PC Studio for any samsung phone? Or is it made specifically for SGH D900I? (Cause, I've been installing and uninstalling to figure out if the program is able to detect the phone   Undecided )

I've posted a pic. on how the previous version looked like when I connected the mythic, and tried to transfer the texts.

That link that was given to you will definitely not work with this phone. It needs deleted.  The d900 is a totally different chipped phone.

I haven't looked at the mythic's version so I cant tell you if they took it out. They really stripped the version for the impression. It ONLY does media files.

I suggest the version for the solstice. If that doesnt work then try the version for the eternity.  Both can be downloaded from samsung.com  Just go there and select mobile then phones then att then pick the phone.

Always uninstall previous versions  and reboot your pc before installing new versions.

Let us know how you makeout.

Sorry fireangel  , I thought that was a link to PC studio for eternity. You are right about New PC studio being toned down. I'll try PC studio and post back.

THANKS for catching my mistake Agoat, I'll be more careful.

No problem Stv. Just wanted to make sure that I was looking at the right page/program.

Just wanted to update about backing text messages. I managed to backup most of them, if not all. It took me several hours, which was a realll pain, but I managed to do it.

This is what I did: I had to install a different software in order to do it. It's called Mobtime Cellphone Manager (used the latest version 6.6.5). I used the trial version, so I believe some of the features on there were disabled, but fortunately not the sms backup feature.
The time consuming thing was moving the sms's back and forth from the sim to the phone. Unfortunately, that program only detects text messages that are on the sim. And the sim that I was using could store only 30 texts at a time. So I had to manually move each text to and fro from the sim to the phone. But eventually I was able to cover all the texts I had on the phone (over 30 obviously).
Also, everytime you move the texts from the phone to the sim (or the other way around), make sure to select the download option (right click on Phone, and select download). That way, it will update the text message list, as well as update the backup that's on your computer. You can do the same for Sent messages, but again you have to go through the whole process of moving the texts from sim to phone and so forth.
Also, make sure to connect your phone to that software through bluetooth only, the cable doesn't seem to be working well with it, as far as I know. And make sure you select other when the guide comes up.

Let me know if you have any questions in terms of setting up the phone or the detailed steps on how to make texts visible in the software...  Smiley

(Btw, thanks Agoattamer, and Stv, you guys gave me some good ideas!  Grin)

That's the one I installed actually. It was under the eternity on the samsung website. For some reason it couldn't recognize my phone. It kept saying something like the phone's not registered or something.  Sad  I switched back to the pc studio specifically made for the mythic after that. Not sure why it would do that. Did you specifically use the mythic to transfer the texts while using the 1.2.1 PC Studio Stv?
