Newbie here with a few problems

ok just got my phone a few days ago and I am having a couple of problems:
1. when I am receiving a call I am not able to accept or reject the call using the touch screen... is there a setting for this?
2. also when I receive a call I am not able to put it on speaker phone using the touch screen..again is there a setting I have to change for this?

Please help....I am at a loss

Is your screen locked ? If so you need to unlock it first to access options.
If not are you sliding the keys and not pressing them ? The keys need to be "slid" to answer,reject, speakerphone.

OMG..do I feel dumb..i was just tapping it not sliding it..thank you so much for your help..now if i can just get my songs on there and my wallpaper to work i will be set. thank you soooo much!!!
